Prerequisite

• Download APPs
  • SecurityKey Desktop
  • SecurityKey NFC
• You need to obtain a S/MIME certificate before you start, you can apply free S/MIME certificate on
  • https://www.actalis.com/request-s-mime-certificate
    • Sometimes it takes a few day for Actalis to issue a certificate for user
  • https://order.emsign.com/freeSmime
    • You need to submit a CSR (certificate signing request) to apply Emsign’s S/MIME certificate.
    • The CSR of your key can be generate via SecurityKey Desktop (Tab “PIV” > Section “Certificates” > slot 9c > click “…” and “Generate” > Select Output format “CSR”, Algorithm “RSA2048”, Subject “CN=YourEmail”)
• Remember to update the PIV PINs from default and enable the Biometric protection

  • Launch the APP SecurityKey Desktop and go to tab “PIV”

  • Update PIV PIN and enable the “Biometric protection” for the smart card

    • The default PIV PIN is 123456

    

1. Import the S/MIME Certificates via SecurityKey Desktop

1-1. Go to the tab “PIV” > section “Certificates” > slot 9c > click “…” and “Import” (Enter password if your certificates are protected with password)

2. Add the certificate to your mobile device

2-1. Launch the APP SecurityKey NFC , scan the card

2-2. Go to the tab Certificates, and add the certificate from card to the device

3. Add the certificate to your mobile device

3-1. In Settings of your iPhone, find Mail > Accounts, and select the email account you want to add certificate for signing
